Ontario’s Most Expensive Cities for Auto Insurance in 2017

Home to six out for Canada’s ten most populous cities, the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) is also home to Ontario’s most expensive auto insurance. The provincial average for auto insurance is $1316, however many of the GTA’s most expensive cities far exceed that figure.

Kanetix has released data on the least and most expensive auto insurance rates in Ontario.  Here’s the top ten most expensive cities:

Rank City Estimated Premium
1. Brampton $2,268
2. Vaughan $1,825
3. Mississauga $1,788
4. Markham $1,785
5. Toronto $1,743
6. Richmond Hill $1,709
7. Ajax $1,519
8. Hamilton $1,497
9. Pickering $1,450

What about the cheapest cities?

Perhaps unsurprisingly Ontario’s best places for auto insurance are all outside of the GTA. Kingston, Cornwall, Brockville, Trenton, Port Hope, Picton, Napanee, Cobourg, Belleville, Parry Sound, Huntsville, Gravenhurst, and Bracebridge are all well below avarage cost with estimated annual premiums around $900.
